Battlefield 3 beta – “Hundreds” of changes from alpha, day one patches likely

by on Sep.06, 2011, under News, That VideoGame Blog

Just like a tender leg testing the water, Battlefield 3’s beta release will be dangling itself into the pit of criticism. DICE have already confirmed that they will be making literally “hundreds” of changes to the game so far.

So far, there has been no confirmation on the exact date of the beta release apart from “September”. The final game will be set for release towards the end of October, so that gives around a month for DICE to make any last minute adjustments.

Doom 4 single-player locked at 30fps

by on Aug.23, 2011, under News, That VideoGame Blog

Poor frame rate in games these days is like hearing someone suffering from the plague. by on Aug.11, 2011, under News, That VideoGame Blog

Just like an awesome band who make the one amazing album and don’t take the risk with the difficult second one, Australian developer Team Bondi are giving in its gun and badge. So maybe we’ll be assigning the case of the LA Noire sequel to another developer, eh?

Far Cry 3 gameworld 10x that of its predecessors

by on Jul.06, 2011, under News, That VideoGame Blog

The first thing to improve on all sandbox games is size. If your gaming world is the equivalent to the size of a large European country with varied terrain, then you might as well make room on your shelf for some kind of an award. The Far Cry series is one of those gaming franchises that just happens to be trying to hold the hugest world yet on its shoulders.

Microsoft questions motives for 3D

by on Jun.30, 2011, under News, That VideoGame Blog

3D 3D 3D. If anyone keeps on going on and on about how great it is to have an extra dimension in modern visual technology, I’ll beat them with my fist. My three-dimensional fist. Even videogames have jumped on board the eye-popping band wagon with 3D games on the Nintendo 3DS and Sony’s PlayStation 3 getting a similar treatment. Max Payne 3 in December — US retailers

by on Jun.21, 2011, under News, That VideoGame Blog

I keep forgetting there’s actually a third Max Payne game set for release. It’s been such a long gap between the second and third compared to the first two that I wonder what could be taking them so long. I mean, it’s no Duke Nukem Forever, but even some of us more patient players have our limits. And now we might finally have ourselves a date.

Bioware: Mass Effect 3 is an ending and a beginning

by on Jun.20, 2011, under News, That VideoGame Blog

Trilogies never end in videogames. As soon as the proverbial lid is closed on a seemingly concluded game series, it is then jimmied open for another expansion of the games universe. It now seems that sci-fi shooter RPG epic Mass Effect will be now going the same way as Halo as Bioware announce that the third in the series will be both an ending and a beginning.

It just goes to show that building large structures with nothing but your imagination and patience is still popular.
