Far Cry 3 gameworld 10x that of its predecessors

by on Jul.06, 2011, under News, That VideoGame Blog

The first thing to improve on all sandbox games is size. If your gaming world is the equivalent to the size of a large European country with varied terrain, then you might as well make room on your shelf for some kind of an award. The Far Cry series is one of those gaming franchises that just happens to be trying to hold the hugest world yet on its shoulders.

Microsoft questions motives for 3D

by on Jun.30, 2011, under News, That VideoGame Blog

Max Payne 3 in December — US retailers

by on Jun.21, 2011, under News, That VideoGame Blog

I keep forgetting there’s actually a third Max Payne game set for release. It’s been such a long gap between the second and third compared to the first two that I wonder what could be taking them so long. I mean, it’s no Duke Nukem Forever, but even some of us more patient players have our limits. And now we might finally have ourselves a date.

Bioware: Mass Effect 3 is an ending and a beginning

by on Jun.20, 2011, under News, That VideoGame Blog

Trilogies never end in videogames. As soon as the proverbial lid is closed on a seemingly concluded game series, it is then jimmied open for another expansion of the games universe. It now seems that sci-fi shooter RPG epic Mass Effect will be now going the same way as Halo as Bioware announce that the third in the series will be both an ending and a beginning.

It just goes to show that building large structures with nothing but your imagination and patience is still popular. Already a popular indie game, Minecraft has showed that the concept is a profitable one as it has now sold over 2.5 million copies. So it turns out that the sudden move to a June release wasn’t a sign that the Duke could be jetpacking back to development hell. As well as the reassuring trailers that Gearbox have been releasing recently, a ‘first access’ demo is looking for a release next week.

New Assassin’s Creed reveal teases date

by on May.05, 2011, under News, That VideoGame Blog

Is it time already to move away from Italy and venture into another stab-filled era of civilization? Whilst it was pleasant to be stuck in Rome for a bit longer, the next Assassin’s Creed outing really needs to push the boat out and find a new time and place for use to run about in.

by on Mar.04, 2011, under News, That VideoGame Blog

After playing the short spoof game Duty Calls earlier last month, it’s left me wandering if they really are going for another Modern Warfare game. Recently, an URL has been sneaking about in the form of findmakarov.com. Could it be that Modern Warfare 3 is going to happen despite the recent events at Infinity Ward?
